Patrick arrancou o gol da vitória aos 30 minutos do primeiro tempo
Graças a um gol de Patrick, o São Paulo derrotou o Palmeiras por 1 a 0, na noite desta quinta-feira (23) no estádio do Morumbi, em São Paulo, na partida de ida das oitavas de final da Copa do Brasil. Com a vitória, o Tricolor fica com uma pequena vantagem para o confronto de volta (no dia 14 de julho no Allianz Parque), se classificando até com um empate. O Verdão tem que buscar vencer por dois gols de diferença para garantir a vaga nos 90 minutos, em caso de triunfo por apenas um gol do Palestra, a vaga será decidida na disputa de pênaltis.
O técnico Rogério Ceni mostrou personalidade nesta quinta, pois não se deixou abalar pela derrota de 2 a 1 de virada para o Palmeiras da última segunda (20), pela 13ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro, e manteve a equipe titular. A escolha se mostrou acertada, pois o Tricolor fez um bom primeiro tempo, tomando as rédeas do confronto e impedindo as ações ofensivas do time comandado pelo português Abel Ferreira.
E, de tanto pressionar, o São Paulo arrancou a vitória aos 30 minutos do primeiro tempo, quando Patrick ganhou disputa com o zagueiro Gustavo Gómez na entrada da área, avançou e bateu com violência para superar o goleiro Weverton.
Com o revés no Choque-Rei, o Palmeiras viu chegar ao fim uma sequência de 19 partidas de invencibilidade na atual temporada.
