A Série A, ou o Campeonato Italiano 2022 – 2023

O Campeonato Italiano é um dos mais antigos do planeta e completa nesta temporada 120 anos de existência. Portanto, exibido desde 1898, data que coincide com a fundação do Vasco da Gama, o campeonato passou a ter o formato de Série A a partir de 1922.

Assim, antes eram apenas competições regionais que culminavam em uma disputa nacional. Outra curiosidade é que A estrela que é usada nos escudos de Milan e A Internazionale indicam que as equipes ganharam mais de 10 títulos nacionais. Se chegarem a vinte ganham a segunda estrela. Já a Juventus tem três, pois ganhou em 2014 seu trigésimo título, a grande campeã italiana. De lá pra cá já ganhou mais 5. Outras forças do campeonato também buscam o título e vagas nas competições europeias como a Roma, Genoa, Napoli, Lazio, Sampdoria entre outros.

A Série A de 2022–23 (conhecida como Serie A TIM por motivos de patrocínio) é a 121ª temporada do futebol italiano de primeira linha, a 91ª em um torneio round-robin e a 13ª desde sua organização sob um comitê da liga, o Lega Série A. O Milan é o atual campeão.

A partir da temporada 2022-23, caso o primeiro e o segundo, ou 17º e 18º colocados no final da temporada estejam empatados em pontos, uma partida de desempate do play-off será realizada em um local neutro para determinar o título e equipe final rebaixada respectivamente. O desempate não terá prorrogação e, em vez disso, irá diretamente para a disputa de pênaltis se as duas equipes estiverem empatadas após 90 minutos. Esta é a primeira vez que os play-offs são usados ​​desde a campanha de 2004-05.

Além disso, a Serie A planeja realizar um torneio com equipes da Serie A nos Estados Unidos durante a Copa do Mundo FIFA de 2022.
