O Botafogo, juntamente com Cruzeiro e Vasco, anunciou sua saída da Libra na semana passada, deixando claro para o fundo Mubadala que não faz mais parte do grupo de 18 clubes que compõem a associação. Embora os cruzeirenses e vascaínos não tenham divulgado publicamente sua decisão, John Textor, dono do Botafogo, foi o responsável por trazer à tona uma questão delicada: a governança.
Dentro da Libra, as discussões vão além do valor mínimo garantido, que é estendido a todos os clubes, aumentando assim a receita, mas também ampliando a distância em relação aos clubes de topo, como Flamengo e Corinthians.
Textor também abordou outro tema relevante: as votações por unanimidade que poderiam permitir que os contratos futuros da Liga fossem assinados pelos executivos, sem a necessidade de aprovação dos clubes, ou que um único clube tivesse o direito de veto, a fim de evitar um consenso completo.

Botafogo, Cruzeiro e Vasco não migrarão para a Liga Forte, optando por formar um bloco independente. Eles poderão assinar com quem oferecer a melhor proposta ou aguardar a criação de uma Liga que tenha o direito de organizar o Campeonato Brasileiro a partir de 2025.
A saída desses três clubes cria uma incógnita para os outros 15 que permanecem na Libra. O que acontecerá com a proposta de R$ 4,75 bilhões por 20% da nova Liga ou com o contrato de R$ 2,3 bilhões envolvendo os 18 clubes da Libra? Se agora restam apenas 15 participantes, o fundo Mubadala manterá a proposta e aumentará o valor para cada um? Ou haverá uma mudança na proposta?
Em meio a todas essas questões, é necessário tomar uma decisão sobre o que acontecerá a partir de 2025, quando o contrato atual de transmissão televisiva se encerrar.
