Normalmente, as atividades são realizadas em horários que não trazem nenhum transtorno para o trânsito ou para a população. Por isso, apoiamos a iniciativa e vamos atender suas reivindicações”, afirmou Iracema Vale.
Segundo o deputado Carlos Lula, que participou do encontro, além da prática esportiva, o uso de bicicletas deve ser visto como modal para a mobilidade urbana.
“É preciso entender que as avenidas não são lugares apenas de carros e, por isso, temos que nos atentar para a segurança de todos que ali percorrem é que estão exercendo sua liberdade”, ressaltou o parlamentar, que apresentou um projeto para dar mais segurança a essas práticas esportivas.
Insegurança – O problema, no entanto, parece não estar iigado apenas à omissão do poder público, já que em diversas áreas onde há pistas exclusivas para essas práticas, elas são desprezadas e corredores e ciclistas disputam, com automóveis e veículos pesados, as pistas de rolamento, pondo em risco suas vidas e de outras pessoas, ou seja, é preciso haver consciência também por parte de quem exerce essas práticas esportivas.
Na noite desta quinta-feira (05), Maranhão Hoje flagrou ciclistas ocupando as faixas para veículos na Via Expressa (uma via de alta velocidade entre os bairros do Jaracati e Maranhão Novo), circulando ao lado da pista criada exclusivamente para eles, que estava vazia, isto é, não basta criar vias e faixas, é preciso usá-las, nem que seja pela intimidação da multa ou apreensão do veículo.
A mesma prática observa-se na Avenida Quarto Centenário, entre os bairros da Alemanha e da Camboa, onde corridas a pé e de bicicletas não são praticadas em suas pistas, mas ao lado dos carros, pondo skb ameaça tanto ciclistas e corredores quanto motoristas, que, muitas das vezes, correm risco de provocar outro acidente ao desviarem de uma possível vítima à sua frente ou ao lado.
