O presidente da Associação Comercial do Maranhão, Cristiano Barroso Fernandes, retornou de Brasília (DF) otimista com os rumos para recuperação do edifício do Palácio do Comércio, sede da entidade.
Recentemente o prédio que abriga a ACM e outros inquilinos foi interditado pela Defesa Civil de São Luís e, enquanto as providências de desocupação estão sendo tomadas, de forma a garantir a segurança de todos e preservação do patrimônio material da entidade, Cristiano Barroso Fernandes, juntamente com Fábio Nahuz, presidente do Sinduscon e diretor da ACM, estiveram na capital federal cumprindo agendas importantes em busca de recursos para a reforma e revitalização do prédio.
Uma das alternativas de ocupação é um modelo misto, que envolveria a oferta de moradias de cunho social e de espaços de serviços. Essas opções foram discutidas na Câmara Federal, em diálogo com a Bancada Federal Maranhense, onde os dois discutiram com parlamentares a captação de recursos, via emendas, para recuperação do prédio e também com o governador Carlos Brandão e com outros interlocutores, como o secretário executivo do Ministério das Cidades, Hildo Rocha, e o secretário Nacional de Habitação do Ministério das Cidades, Hailton Madureira e a diretora do Departamento de Provisão Habitacional, Ana Paula Maci el Peixoto.
De acordo com o presidente Cristiano Barroso Fernandes, todos os interlocutores mostraram sensibilidade para com o pleito, levando-se em conta a importância histórica do edifício, cuja história está ligada à cidade e à formação econômica da capital.
