Objetivo é evitar acidentes com desportistas
A partir deste sábado (21), a Avenida Litorânea estará interditada para a prática de atividades físicas e treinos esportivos. A interdição será coordenada pela Secretaria Municipal de Trânsito e Transportes (SMTT) e acontecerá sempre às terças, quintas e sábados, das 04h30 às 06h, no trecho compreendido da Praça dos Pescadores até o semáforo, próximo ao quiosque Coco Mel, no Olho d’Água (sentido bairro-centro), totalizando oito quilômetros de extensão.
O serviço de transporte público que serve a região continuará normalmente e as linhas T403 Calhau/ Litorânea e T402 Ponta d´Areia não serão afetadas.
A decisão, que tem como principal objetivo garantir a segurança viária, evitar acidentes e proteger atletas durante a prática dos treinos, foi anunciada pelo prefeito Eduardo Braide, nesta quarta-feira (19), numa reunião da qual participaram o secretário de Trânsito e Transportes, Diego Rodrigues, e representantes de grupos de corredores, triatletas e ciclistas da capital.
A Prefeitura de São Luís tem montado estratégias para garantir a prática de esportes na pista da orla marítima da capital. Entre as medidas tomadas pelo órgão municipal de trânsito está a interdição de uma faixa da Litorânea, no sentido bairro-centro, para o lazer e a prática de atividades esportivas, aos domingos e feriados, das 6h às 10h, desde a Praça dos Pescadores até a Rua Rio Claro, no Olho d’Água. A área é interditada com o uso de cones sinalizadores para permitir a prática segura de atividades físicas e também para o lazer da população.
