Entrevista com o diretor da Cooperativa Maria Macia., Paulo Emílio Prohmann

Médico-veterinário formado pela UEL, mestre em Zootecnia pela UEM e doutor em Zootecnia pela mesma instituição e pela University of Kentucky. Scot Consultoria: O que um protocolo de recepção de animais deve englobar?

Paulo Emílio: É fundamental realizar a vacinação contra doenças respiratórias, mesmo naqueles confinamentos onde não observamos problemas clínicos, uma vez que a enfermidade subclínica acaba prejudicando o resultado final. Também deve ser realizada a prevenção contra clostridiose, que é uma doença mais comumente relatada, mas seria interessante que os animais já entrassem no confinamento com um histórico de aplicações, para terem apenas um reforço na chegada. E, por último, os vermífugos para o controle das verminoses e, em alguns casos, o estímulo do sistema imunológico.

Scot Consultoria: O que recomendar ao recriador para a diminuição de problemas com animais que, supostamente, já chegam no cocho com pneumonia sintomática?

Paulo Emílio: O recriador tem um desafio um pouco menor, porque ele terá os animais a pasto, com menor circulação de patógenos e animais menos estressados. Se for feita a administração de uma vacina nesse período, será observado um ganho quando esses animais forem para o confinamento, porque neste momento eles já teriam sido expostos aos antígenos e terão, portanto, uma resposta imunológica melhor.

Scot Consultoria: Qual o custo por animal de um protocolo sanitário de entrada no confinamento?

Paulo Emílio: O custo hoje varia muito com o que será adotado, variando também em relação as vacinas respiratórias, as clostridioses e os vermífugos. Os custos do protocolo de entrada ficam por volta de R$10,00 a R$20,00 por cabeça, agora é importante dizermos que, para os animais que pertencerem a um grupo de risco, temos que entrar com uma metafilaxia, que é a administração de antibióticos na recepção, isso tem um custo muito maior, variando de R$30,00 a R$90,00 por cabeça, mas é apenas aplicado em um número restrito de animais de alto risco.

Scot Consultoria: É importante saber das doenças regionais que afetam os bovinos ou existe um protocolo brasileiro?

Paulo Emílio: O Brasil é muito grande, as condições são distintas em diferentes regiões. No evento Encontro de Confinamento e Recriadores da Scot Consultoria encontrei um produtor que possui um confinamento no Sul do Brasil que está com problemas de Tristeza Parasitária Bovina (Babesiose), que é uma doença transmitida principalmente pelo carrapato. Então, apesar desse protocolo citado ser um protocolo base para todo o Brasil, nas regiões que podem ter problemas com carrapato, por exemplo, eu faço também um pour-on na entrada para limpar e monitoro uma possível Babesiose, Anaplasmose, ou problema de Tristeza Parasitária Bovina.

Scot Consultoria: Qual o período de maior frequência de enfermidades após receber os animais no confinamento e como minimizá-las?

Paulo Emílio: O grande problema está nos primeiros 15 dias. Por uma possível manifestação de doença respiratória subclínica, o animal deixa de comer, não toma água, então nesse sentido nós temos que tomar muito cuidado com o início.

Quando os animais vêm de fora, para entrar no confinamento, o ideal seria haver um período de isolamento de cinco a dez dias. Seria ideal se eles pudessem ficar em áreas amplas, com disponibilidade de pasto, sombra, com o alimento já sendo fornecido no cocho para melhor adaptação e com água fresca em abundância para que ele se reidrate. Nesse período, se o estresse for reduzido, o sistema imune desses animais será menos suprimido.

Scot Consultoria: Em 2023, aproximadamente metade do rebanho brasileiro será considerado zona livre de febre aftosa sem vacinação. O que o senhor acha desse plano nacional de erradicação de febre aftosa?

Paulo Emílio: Nós olhamos por dois lados. Primeiro, do lado comercial, ficamos contentes e esperançosos em termos a oportunidade de abrir mercados extremamente exigentes do ponto de vista sanitário. Por outro lado, ficamos um pouco receosos com a circulação viral por conta da erradicação da vacina, mas isso não pode impedir nosso avanço comercial.

Deve-se criar zonas de exclusão caso haja manifestação viral e que essas zonas sejam, de fato, interditadas para que o país não seja prejudicado como um todo por conta do aparecimento de um caso isolado. A organização no nosso sistema nacional de defesa será muito importante para termos a tranquilidade em adotar ou deixar de adotar a vacina contra aftosa.
