A equipe vice-campeã participou da Recopa Sul-Americana de Clubes de 1970 para substituir o vencedor Boca Juniors, que não podia jogar simultaneamente por ter se classificado para a Taça Libertadores da América de 1970.
Esta copa foi criada como uma “competição tampão” para cobrir as datas da temporada regular da liga deixada pelo cancelamento da Copa da Superliga Argentina de 2022, esta cancelada por causa da pandemia de COVID-19. Tem como principal objetivo outorgar uma vaga para a Taça Libertadores de 2023, e secundariamente, para a Copa Sul-Americana de 2023. Torneio também conhecido como Campeonato Argentino.
