O Instituto de Promoção e Defesa do Cidadão e Consumidor do Maranhão (Procon/MA) abriu processo administrativo para apurar denúncias de xenofobia que teria sido praticada pelo Colégio São Marcos, em São Luís. A escola foi notificada nesta quarta-feira (5) e terá prazo de dez dias para prestar esclarecimentos ao órgão de defesa.

As denúncias foram realizadas por consumidores após uma publicação no perfil oficial da instituição com uma imagem de teor pejorativo sobre a região nordeste após eleições realizadas no último domingo (2).

“Temos registros das imagens postadas e todo o tipo de publicação com teor discriminatório, vexatório e xenofóbico configura, de acordo com o Código de Defesa do Consumidor, como publicidade abusiva e o Procon/MA está atento a isso e vai apurar responsabilidades e aplicar as sanções cabíveis conforme preceitua a lei”, afirmou o presidente do órgão, Ricardo Cruz.

Com a abertura do processo administrativo, a escola terá prazo de resposta para se defender contra as acusações e restando comprovada a prática abusiva, poderão ser aplicadas sanções que vão da multa até a suspensão das atividades.
