Com o resultado, o Santos ocupa a 17ª colocação, com 24 pontos, um a menos do que o Goiás, o primeiro time fora da zona de rebaixamento. O Bahia ficou em 15º, com 25.
Precisando vencer para espantar a má fase, o Santos foi incisivo no primeiro tempo e não demorou a criar grandes oportunidades. Jean Lucas puxou o contra-ataque, cortou a marcação e chutou para a defesa de Marcelo Felipe. Soteldo pegou o rebote e jogou para fora.

No segundo tempo, o Bahia voltou mais ativo e abriu o placar aos 14 minutos. Gilberto pegou a sobra e acionou Camilo Cândido. O lateral acertou um bonito chute para mandar no fundo das redes. O Santos, no entanto, não se encolheu e buscou o empate aos 27 minutos. Após cobrança de falta de Soteldo, Joaquim ajeitou para Marcos Leonardo, que completou para o gol.
