Atletas solicitam isolamento de uma das vias da Litorânea

A presidente da Assembleia Legislativa do Maranhão, deputada Iracema Vale (PSB), se reuniu, na manhã desta segunda-feira (2), com representantes do ciclismo, triathlon e corredores de rua de São Luís, que apresentaram uma petição por mais segurança no trânsito. No encontro, também estiveram presentes os deputados Carlos Lula (PSB) e Rafael (PSB).

“Os atletas precisam de pessoas que os apoiem e compreendam que a prática esportiva exige uma segurança adequada. Normalmente, as atividades são realizadas em horários que não trazem nenhum transtorno para o trânsito ou para a população. Por isso, apoiamos a iniciativa e vamos atender suas reivindicações”, afirmou Iracema Vale.

Medidas de segurança

No documento, assinado por mais de 600 atletas, é solicitado o isolamento de uma das vias da Avenida Litorânea, todos os dias, no horário das 4h às 6h30. A petição também inclui a realização de blitz com bafômetro, monitoramento de câmeras em toda extensão e a realização de campanhas educativas para promover mais empatia da sociedade com os atletas de rua.

Segundo o deputado Carlos Lula, além da prática esportiva, o uso de bicicletas deve ser visto como modal para a mobilidade urbana. “É preciso entender que as avenidas não são lugares apenas de carros e, por isso, temos que nos atentar para a segurança de todos que ali percorrem é que estão exercendo sua liberdade”, ressaltou o parlamentar.

O deputado Rafael garantiu que o Parlamento Estadual estará engajado na causa. “Nossa presidente prontamente recebeu os atletas e vamos avaliar o tema com muita atenção. São reivindicações importantes e vamos dar seguimento para alcançar as melhorias propostas”.

Importância do apoio – Para o presidente da Federação Maranhense de Triathlon, Betinho Menezes, o apoio da Assembleia Legislativa é fundamental para contribuir com a segurança no trânsito. “Estamos tentando evitar a ocorrência de mais acidentes fatais durante os nossos treinos e agradecemos o apoio das autoridades do Poder Legislativo para alcançar esse objetivo”.

O corredor de rua Alexandre Dominici, que também estava presente na reunião, salientou a importância de discutir o tema. “O acidente que vitimou o médico Édson Soares certamente nos abriu os olhos e nos atentou para a necessidade de discutirmos sobre todas essas medidas de segurança com nossas autoridades. Estamos abalados, mas comprometidos”, assinalou.
